Bicycle moto cross (BMX) started in the late 1960s in California, around the time that motocross became a popular sport in the USA. The motorized version of the sport was the inspiration for the human powered competition. Children and teenagers with the desire but not the means to participate in motocross sated their appetite by racing bicycles on self-built tracks. These young adventurers completed the imitation by dressing themselves up in motocross gear. The sport was given the name 'bmx' and the conception was complete.
Chula Vista world-class USA BMX track that has recently played host to the US Open as part of the UCI Supercross weekend is open weekly for the public to come out and try. Not only will you participate in an Olympic sport but chances are you will be on the track riding with current Olympians as well! The track is considered to be one of the top tracks in the USA and is a national caliber track with something for every rider. Once again, the best BMX riders will gather at the UCI BMX Supercross 2014 finals already this weekend.
At occasion of the event, each year, USA BMX inducts two legendary BMX racers, one legendary Freestyle rider, along with one influential Industry person, as well as one influential BMX woman into the National BMX Hall of Fame. Nominations are accepted from the public, the final list of nominees is determined by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, and the BMX Hall of Fame inductees, industry, media and a select few history experts cast their votes on the ballot to determine each year`s class.
In 2012 he won his first senior BMX World Title then won gold at the World Championships. He followed this up with a silver medal at the London Olympics. Currently ranked number one in an overall standings he's at it again. Will the Aussie rider become the UCI BMX Supercross 2014 champ? We'll see....
