The legendary female freediver, Natalia Molchanova, has set another World Record by completing a Constant Weight No Fins (CNF) dive to 71m in the Russian Open Championships held in Dahab, Egypt on 13th May. Right after her dive that increased her previous record by 1 meter, Natalie got back to teaching her course. While somebody might find that odd, this is just who Natalia is - she just nipped out to set another World Record while giving a freediving lecture - no big deal.
Although the Russian Open Championships continues, Natalia's name doesn't appear on the start list anymore. It's your guess why. However, she has again proved that she's undoubtedly the best all-round female Freediving athlete out there today. And it'll be great to see her next performances at the upcoming World Championships. This first one, the 2015 AIDA Pool World Championship will be held from 19-28June, in Belgrade, Serbia followed by the 2015 AIDA Depth World Championship held from 11-20 September, in Limassol, Cyprus. On February 23, 2021, the Czech freediver David Vencl will try to beat the Guinness World Record and set a world record in the Pure Apnea association in under-ice swim without a wetsuit and in the most difficult conditions – i.e. without the cap and weights that freedivers are used to.
